Guardian Head of Technology Strategy Stephen Dunn talks about the challenges around developing platforms, digital identity and GNM’s product development process:
While multiplatform is increasingly thought of at the top of the process, at the same time, “some of the most successful products are bespoke to a specific platform” he explains.
From web first to mobile first – “If you’re launching a product that doesn’t have a place on a mobile device, you have to ask yourself ‘why are we developing that?’”
He also comments on the Guardian vs Times Online strategy debate, saying: “We’re not choosing free because we’re choosing open.”
